He is the son of a popular Turkish singer/actress Sevval Sam and the soccer player Metin Tekin. He took acting training since his childhood. He studied at Sisli Terakki until 8th grade, and after that, studied at Pera Fine Arts High School. He studied a preparatory program under the University of the Arts London. There, he studied composition, jazz history, lighting, and drama. After that, he studied a preparatory program at Cambridge’s Royal Academy of Dramatic Arts. There, he studied more on drama, including movement, voice, breath, etc. After that, he completed one year drama program at Oxford School of Drama. He lived in London for a while and then, returned to Istanbul to start his acting career. He made his debut in 2020 with Rise of Empires: Ottoman series on Netflix. After then, he took the role of Bulut in Naked (Ciplak) TV series on BluTV. He took the role of Selcuk in Woman Scorned (Sadakatsiz) tv series on KanalD during 2020-2022. He continued to take part in various television shows. Tekin is interested in music in addition to acting.

From the interview with Taro Emir Tekin
Do you like yourself as an actor?
I am just at the beginning of the road. In acting, I think there is no such thing as “I am done”. That’s why I still have a lot to learn and discover. I have a long way to go. When I watch myself, I don’t like myself in some scenes. I am critical of myself. I know, I need to be more flexible with myself. I am trying to raise awareness about this.
How does your mother evaluate your acting?
Both my parents have been honest with me. When my mother has a criticism about me, she says it directly in an honest manner. We are colleagues besides being mom-son.
You played with your mom in Rental Mom short movie. How was it?
It was an honor and a wonderful experience for me. Of course, we found it different and found ourselves in a laugh crisis sometimes.
Your parents are very successful in their careers. How does it feel to be the son of these successful parents?
For me, they are my parents who are standing on their feet. Their success and stance in their career affected me in how to become an individual. It did not bring any difficulty to become their son. Instead, it is a big strength and honor.
The women in your family are very strong as 'Amazon Women'.
I totally agree. I am proud of their strong stance. I am aware of the fact that women struggle a lot in life. They taught me love, compassion, and understanding. I am doing my best to become a son and a man worthy of them.
What do you think about soccer?
I haven’t been interested in soccer since my childhood. When I was playing soccer with my friends in my childhood, and whenever I missed a goal, my friends we were making fun of me by saying that “Was your father a soccer player too?” Anyway, I am rooting for Besiktas.
Are you interested in other sports?
I am interested in much more extreme sports. I played ice hockey for 5 years. I am very interested in defense sports like Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, Muay Thai, and boxing.
Do you have other hobbies?
Cooking. It is one of the things in life that I enjoy a lot. The biggest share of my money goes to kitchen appliances.
How do you consider your UK experience?
As a 15 year of young child, living abroad made me stronger. I think it improved my self-confidence and my ability to handle difficulties. I studied with others who come from 70 different countries. Different cultures, different stories. This diversity broadened my horizon.
You are compared to different celebrities like Johnny Depp, Sam Rockwell, and James Dean. Who is your idol?
I am happy that they compared me with these big stars. I think the common point of these three names is that they are actors who have discovered their own fingerprints. Find my own taste and my fingerprints is my aim too.
What do you think about music?
Music is an important role in my life. I have been playing piano and guitar since childhood.
How did you study theatre in Oxford?
I had an opportunity to study in England, and I moved to England when I was going to high school. I took sociology, photography, art history, and drama in my first year. After that, I studied a preparatory program under the University of the Arts London. To do that, I prepared 2 classic and 2 modern essays. This process is 5-tier selection process, including improvisation, singinf, dance, acting, and presentation of materials. After this selection process, I started University of the Arts London’s preparatory program. There, I studied composition, jazz history, lighting, and drama. After that, I studied a preparatory program at Cambridge’s Royal Academy of Dramatic Arts. There, I studied more on drama, including movement, voice, breath, etc. After that, I took a year’s gap in my studies. I auditioned for several universities’ drama programs. Oxford School of Drama is one of top 10 drama schools in the world. I was accepted by Oxford and worked at Woodstock.
Didn’t you think of staying in England and working?
Of course, I did. I also took part in some theatre plays there. For example, I took part in a musical play in Scotland. I am also thinking about working there. I stayed in England for 8 years and took my education in English. I wanted to come here with the thought of whether I was away from Turkish and play here in my mother tongue.
