From the interview with Boran Kuzum

If you lived in another city, what country would it be, what city would it be, and what would you like to do there?

I wouldn’t want to live in one city for a long time, but I would like to make a movie in Prague.

What dangerous sport would you like to do?

For one thing, I would like to jump out of a helicopter with a parachute.

What's the most adventurous thing you've done?

I’m not very adventurous, I guess. But two years ago, when I bought a one-way ticket to the United States and my flight was canceled there due to weather conditions, I bought a bus ticket on the same day and went on a long night journey from Times Square to another city in the rain. Alone…

What does socializing mean to you?

For me, socializing now is about being able to go for a walk with my limited friends in the neighborhood where I live, to be able to go back and forth with each other. I think we will see how this situation progresses. I miss my job, I miss hugging my family, my friends. But we will have to be patient a little longer.

Do you think you're lucky?

In the system we are in, I think that people create their own luck. There is no limit to dreaming and wanting, and there is no limit to what you can do for the sake of your dreams. Like everyone else, there have been periods when everything has gone well or I have experienced misfortunes one after another. And I learned by living. The main thing is to take a lesson from all these situations that we describe as good or bad and continue on their way by getting stronger. Most of the time, I was able to do that. That’s why I feel lucky.

How did you find the right profession for yourself?

By experiencing what is wrong for myself… This is actually a great chance. Knowing what you don’t want at the point where you’re not sure is a strong start to life. I was also sure that I wanted a profession with a creative process, rather than putting it on ready-made information and passing it on. I was going to do something with art, and theater opened that door for me.

If you weren't an actor, what would you be doing today?

I would probably be trying to be an actor. I actually looked for a second option, but I couldn’t find it. I love my job passionately. I hope I can tell many stories for many years and continue to do my job with the same love.

What is the movie that has impressed you the most lately?

Manchester by the Sea.

What is the best movie of all time?

I can’t say that in life (laughs).

What is the movie you enjoy watching every time and recommend to everyone?

I’ve seen Kenneth Lonergan’s Manchester by the Sea many times this year. I think it is a film with a very high performance from actors and directors. Tom Ford’s Nocturnal Animals is also a long video-art. I also watched Xavier Dolan’s Mommy a lot this year. There’s an actress there named Anne Dorval who I admired her performance. I liked it so much that I watched his scenes many times. Xavier Dolan is also a very successful director.

What are TV shows you follow?

I recently watched The Night Of and I really liked it. Now I’ve started Tom Hardy’s Taboo. I’ve just watched the first episode, it’s a different series. I also finished The Young Pope.

What is the musician or song you've listened to the most recently?

I listen to all the songs of the band Kings of Leon.

What is your favorite food?

I never separate it because I love to eat.

What is the food you never put in your mouth?

Leek.

What is your dream city?

London.

What is the city you most want to go to?

London.

If you weren't born in Ankara in 1992, in which year and where would you like to be born?

England in the 1960s.
