From the interview with Ipek Tuzcuoglu

Vine Mansion (Asmali Konak) is shown as the turning point of your career. Does it bother you to be told like this all the time?

I owe everything to this tv series. I am doing this interview, making money, and reading new scripts thanks to Vine Mansion (Asmali Konak). Vine Mansion (Asmali Konak) was my 23rd series and it was a reward that life gave me. The last time I acted in “Duriye’s Gums”, no one said Dicle anymore, everyone said Duriye. It’s nice when one success follows another.

Why didn't you continue ballet?

I realized that ballet would not be enough for me and I wanted to develop my theatrical side as well. I wanted to be a musical dancer. Cigdem Tunc, Burcin Orhon and Yonca Evcimik were very influential in this area. But I admired Ayten Gokcer the most. After watching “Hormuz with 7 Husbands”, I wanted to be like Ayten Gokcer”

Have you ever chosen love over your job?

Yes. I follow my feelings. I believe that there should be nothing left inside and a person should live everything he/she wants. From time to time, I had turns focused on love.

Didn't you dream of a dance career, an academic, or a trainer?

Actually, I used to love dancing. But I liked modern dance rather than classical ballet. There was such an opportunity to work as a dancer at Izmir State Theater. I was the only one from the outside while other applicants were dancers from the State Opera and Ballet. I was the only one who won the exam. I played in ‘Boy Friend the Musical’ at the age of 16. I said, ‘Well, the lead gets the most applause, the dancers don’t get the applause here.’ After that, I started to think that “I want to play the lead role.” In fact, Hulya Savas was playing the leading role at that time and was the director of the State Theaters for a while. I admired her very much. But, I wanted to study theater. My mother found a teacher and I took acting training. I took part in the children’s theater plays. Later, I took the exams of Hacettepe and passed the exam. And then I became an actor.”
