Synopsis
Ishak, Oruc, Hizir and Ilyas are four brothers.
Ishak (Yetkin Dikinciler) is the oldest one and works as a potter as if his father. He engages in trade and prefers to live in peace far away from danger. He lives in Midilli island together with wife and two children.
Oruc (Engin Altan Duzyatan) is the second oldest Barbarossa brothers. He opposes to his elder brother and follows his passion for the sea. He becomes a successful sailor who is brave, fearless, charismatic and intelligent. Oruc’s passion for the sea also makes it hard for him to please his wife Despina (Gulcan Arslan).
Ilyas (Caner Topcu) also becomes a sailor just like his brother and works together with Oruc. He is a tenderhearted and handsome young guy who still needs so much time to become an expert at the sea.
Hizir (Ulas Tuna Astepe), on the other hand, leaves his passion for the sea and becomes a merchant. His elder brother Ishak wants his brothers settle down and have an ordinary life in Midilli. Since his two brothers (Oruc and Ilyas) become a sailor, Hizir cannot do anything but to do whatever his eldest brother wishes. Even though he becomes a merchant, he still does not give up his passion for the sea.
After spending so much time apart from his home to engage in trade, Hizir eventually returns to Midilli where his eldest brother lives. He cannot manage to refrain from meddling into a mess. After a long time, he eventually meets his mentor who has been looking for a secret key for the divine book.
In order to find this secret key and protect the divine book from enemies, Hizir travels to Kalimnos Island. There, he bumps into a beautiful healer Zeynep (Melis Babadag) who is a young Muslim girl.
Meanwhile, Oruc and Ilyas find themselves into a chaos and unfortunately, get new enemies. Antoine (Devrim Evin) becomes one of the biggest enemy of Barbarossa brothers after his brother is killed by Oruc Reis.

Oruc Reis (Engin Altan Duzyatan): He is one of the Barbarossa brothers. He is given the name of Barbarossa (meaning Red Beard in Italian) due to his beard with a red color. He is married to Despina. His life is all about sea. He even opposes to his elder brother Ishak Reis due to his passion for the sea. He is a successful sailor who is brave, fearless, charismatic, and wise. He gains the respect of his men who work at his ship. Oruc Reis becomes the governor of Algiers, chief governor of the West Mediterranean, and admiral of the Ottoman Empire.
Hizir Reis (Barbarossa Hayreddin) (Ulas Tuna Astepe): He is one of the Barbarossa brothers. His real name is Hizir. After successfully serving for the Ottoman maritime forces, he gets the name of Hayreddin (meaning “the best of the faith”). After his brother Oruc Reis passes away, he takes the name of Barbarossa for his sake. He is fearless and good at seamanship. In order not to upset his elder brother Ishak Reis, he does not become a sailor but becomes a merchant. However, he finds it so hard to resist his passion for the sea as if his elder brother Oruc Reis. Hizir Reis becomes an admiral of the Ottoman navy and ensures Ottoman dominance over the Mediterranean during the mid-16th century.
Ishak Reis (Yetkin Dikinciler): He is the eldest one of Barbarossa brothers. He lives in Midilli island together with his wife and 2 children. He works as a potter and engages in trade. He wants his brothers settle down and have an ordinary life in Midilli.
Ilyas Reis (Caner Topcu): He is the youngest one of Barbarossa brothers. He works together with his brother Oruc Reis. He is tenderhearted and handsome.
Pietro (Yigit Ozsener): He is very ambitious and cruel. He becomes the biggest enemy of Barbarossa brothers. He aims to clean up the Mediterranean from Muslims. He is very successful for disguising himself.
Isabel (Pelin Akil): She is a beautiful girl who works at her father’s inn (public house). She has some feelings towards Oruc Reis and has a business relationship with him.
Despina (Gulcan Arslan): She is the wife of Oruc Reis. She is a daughter of Yorgo, a rich merchant of Lesbos. When her father does not approve of her relationship, she leaves her family behind in order to get married to Oruc Reis. She loves his husband very much and has a happy marriage. The only problem in her marriage is that she does not have a child. She has several miscarriages throughout her marriage.
Zeynep (Melis Babadag): She is a beautiful Muslim girl who is a healer. She runs an orphanage and takes care of all these children. She falls in love with Hizir Reis.
Antoine (Devrim Evin): After his brother is killed by Oruc Reis, he wants to take his revenge. He becomes one of the biggest enemy of Barbarossa brothers. He calls himself as the god of the seas.
Dervish (Bahadir Yenisehirlioglu): He is the mentor of Hizir Reis.
