Biography: Deniz Cengiz was born on August 4, 1989 in Istanbul. She graduated from Istanbul Culture University, Department of Acting. After graduation, she started working at companies as a white-collar personnel. However, she realized that she did not want to have that kind of job. In order to be known by people, she started to share video clips on YouTube. In 2017-2018, she worked as a writer on Beyaz Show. She attracted the attention of Turkish screenwriters Gupse Ozay and Gulse Birsel with the comedy sketches she shared on YouTube and Instagram. She became known for the TV series Jet Sosyete which was written by Gulse Brisel. Her youtube channel is Deniz Cengiz TV.

From the interview with Deniz Cengiz

What did you do while working as a writer on Beyaz Show?

I was on the humor team of Beyaz Show. I wrote sketches. At first, I didn’t have writing in mind. I wanted to act, but I needed an idea, a subject, or an event to make a video. After a couple of improvisations, ideas started to come to my mind. After then, I always started to write down things I saw around, a funny phrase someone said. Then it all started to turn into videos.

You've achieved your acting goal, now what's next? Have you set a new goal?

I want to write a movie or a web series and act on that. In this process, I also know myself better. I never thought about writing at first, but now my mind has learned to work this way, I see some details. People are also spectators, they say, what did I find, why didn’t I think about it before?

Which series do you like?

I love reality shows. For instance, I don’t like Game of Thrones. I like The Office, Shameless, Girls, and Modern Family. I am a fan of Woody Allen.

Friends.

Which book can you recommend to anyone?

The Royal Game from Stefan Zweig.

Which city/country do you most want to travel to?

I’ve never been to Spain. I hope this summer I can visit.

What is your favorite city/country?

I love London.
